My main objective upon leaving Durango was to make the best possible time home. I hoped to regroup there and continue the adventure, making the best use of my remaining time off work. I decided to head south to pick up I-40 and ride it to Memphis. From there I would take highway 64 across Tennessee to Chattanooga and finally take some state highways to home.
Here are a few scenes from New Mexico.

I stopped for the evening in Adrian, TX and stayed at this small motel.

The view across the street from the motel.

Highway 64 in southern Tennessee.

I stopped for a break at the TWO
motorcycle resort in Suches, GA just as it started to rain.
TWO is a favorite meeting place for motorcyclists across the Southeast. I
enjoy sitting on the porch drinking iced tea and swapping stories with other
riders, although it was rather deserted on this particular day.
Here is a map of the trip from home to Durango and back. I rode a little
over 3600 miles total on this trip segment.
