Day 11 Continued

Several 10-20 mile stretches of the Alaska Highway were gravel and mud due to construction. At places the mud was three inches deep with washboards, potholes, and other hazards. This section had been recently graded and was not nearly as bad as some of the others.

The road just south of Lower Post was simply awful; it was a 20 mile stretch of freshly graded three inch deep mud. This made the bike difficult to control, even more so since all the gear made the bike somewhat top heavy. For much of this stretch my top speed was only 10 mph.
